Add subtitles/CC

You have the ability to add subtitles and closed captions to any of your videos. Here’s how:

  • In your dashboard, find the video you wish to add a subtitles to and click ‘edit’

  • Click on ‘Interactions’ in the editor to the right of the video

  • Click ‘Add Subtitles/CC’

  • There will always be an auto default language on display, this will be different depending on the location of the Vudoo platform environment

  • Next, add your preferred languages using the ‘auto subtitles’ button. You can add as many as you like and your preferred languages can then be selected using the dropdown menu, these will be based off the default language

Note: It is recommended to also edit the default language, as any additional languages will be based off the default subtitle edits.

  • Alternatively, 'Upload .srt' button will allow for prepared .srt file formats to be uploaded

Info: What is an .str file? An .str file is a text file most commonly used for subtitles. 'SRT' refers to a 'SubRip Subtitle' file

Note: The .srt file must be previously prepared, the platform will allow for this to be uploaded and will use the transcript within the file for the subtitles/closed captions

  • If using the auto subtitle language selection, choose the time your subtitles should appear. You can drag the indicators on the slider underneath the video or manually enter the start and end times in the editor

  • Enter the text of your subtitle and you will see it appear in the video

  • Click ‘Add Subtitle’ to create an additional subtitle and enter the start time and text

  • Repeat this until you have added all your subtitles

  • If you wish to create subtitles in multiple languages, choose a different language from the dropdown menu (or add using ‘auto subtitles’) and repeat the process

  • If using the .srt upload option, continue uploading each file required and selected the specific language relating to the file.

  • To make your subtitles visible in the video, tick “Publish [language] subtitles” and then “Save”

  • When you’re finished click ‘Done’ to go back to the interactions page

  • The Closed captions/Subtitles will be visible in the video for the viewer by selecting the 'cc' at the bottom right of the screen.
